Learn: Our last Old Testament story is from the Book of Maccabees. Maccabees were a devout group of believers in God, who rose up to fight Greek rule and pagan gods.
Video: Watch Maccabees: The Story of Hanukkah. This story is what the celebration of Hanukkah commemorates.

Catholic Youth Bible (CYB): The Second Book of Maccabees is another story in the BIBLICAL NOVELLAS. Read the "Quick Summary" on page 607 of your CYB to learn more.
How can a 6th Grader live their faith? The Maccabees were courageous and stood up for what they believed. That is not always easy. Stay true to yourself and your beliefs.

Learn: John the Baptist prepared people to receive Jesus as the Messiah by telling them to repent, or be sorry for their sins and change their ways.
Video: Watch God's Story: John the Baptist. Isaiah preached that someone would come to prepare people for the arrival of the Messiah. John is the fulfillment of that prophecy.
