Pistols are classified in one of three categories: Hold-Out, Light, and Heavy. Unless otherwise stated, revolvers cannot use silencers or sound suppressors.
Hold-Out Pistols are very concealable and are perfect for sneaking into a meet or wearing as a back-up piece. They don't have much else going for them, being generally both weak and inaccurate.
Cannon Strike
The Cannon Strike is less of a mass-produced ranged weapon and more like a handcrafted flavor enhancer in close combat or an ambush. Not much more than a short metal tube usually strapped on the back of a hand and activated by a snap button or concealed in-hand with the barrel held between two fingers. While most people use these devices in melee combat, some activate them at range. Popular in Barrens across the world, ammunition is seldom what is fired. Instead, nails, screws, and stones are usually shot out.

Colt Secret Agent
The Colt Agent Special has long been one of their standbys, so the company decided to enter the hold-out market to see if their name would give a punch to a frequently punchless market. The Secret Agent doesn’t pack a serious punch - it’s still a hold-out, after all - but its flatness makes it one of the most concealable guns on the market. On top of that, its non-metal construction keeps it from being picked up by scanners that catch other guns. All that, and you don’t sacrifice a ton of accuracy.

Advances in weapons technology saw the need for officers and government officials to carry a sleek but still serviceable pistol in the ever-changing French political climate. The result is a single-stack pistol thin enough to be hidden in a pocket without a visible outline.

Standard mounting rails built and fitted for specialized holsters make the whole package a must-have for a collector, while its functionality makes it useful for the street samurai with a discerning palate.

Taurus Mark XXXI
The Mark XXXI has received numerous awards and official endorsements since its debut in March 2069. The Lone Star Officer’s Guild hailed it as “the best weapon for a civilian to own.” Wolverine Security has endorsed it as “the only weapon responsible citizens should have at home.” While these endorsements have been well received by citizen action groups and most security forces, it has not translated into a resounding commercial success. It appears that most weapon purchasers prefer more reliable weapons for home and self-protection.
The Mark XXXI is designed to use tracker ammunition as its primary load. These rounds are intended to identify a target more than to inflict permanent damage and are largely ineffective against body armor. While the weapon is capable offering a variety of ammunition types, all of Taurus’ operator’s manuals expound on the desirability of using tracking ammunition. Home insurance issuers are known to provide a discount to homeowners that possess this - and only this - firearm, as the policyholder is unlikely to have a wrongful death suit brought against them.

Walther P99
The Walther P99 enjoyed a 20-year initial production run and commercial success across the globe. It was produced by a variety of licensed manufacturers in Germany, Poland, and the United States. The weapon was primarily used by police, but it did enjoy some military sales, most notably in Portugal. The weapon is still seen on the streets in UCAS cities and with some European gangs. Rumors occasionally circulate that a Chinese manufacturer has revived the line, but these have never been offered through mainstream suppliers. As a result of the rumored knock-off production, and the fact that many copies were damaged and rebuilt with substandard parts during the EuroWars, there is little collector interest in this weapon.

Yamaha Sakura Fubuki SX
The "Cherry Blossom Storm" was the flagship for Yamaha's line of electronic weapons that featured no moving parts in the 2050's. It was a worldwide hit and, since then, it has been iterated and built upon roughly every decade with a steady stream of supply to meet the demand. Rather than a standard magazine, the caseless bullets are stacked in-line in each of the four barrels, allowing the firing of an ultra-fast single trigger pull burst. The Fubuki includes an integral folding stock and a single customized Fubuki-only speed loader for quick reloads.

Konrad Altmayr presented this weapon under the name "Altmayr SR" years ago but with the success of the White Star, the Black Moon has been rebuilt, renamed, and relaunched. Ares Predator I
This is the pistol that made Ares a household name. The Predator I features heavy construction and a reliable action. This established the reputation that the Predator line has relied on ever since. The pistol lacks the internal smartgun link that is now a standard feature on the Ares line and its mounting hardware is a couple of generations out of date. The original Predator ceased production in the late 2050s and is now rarely seen on the market. Collectors still purchase these weapons, although most require some type of inspection to ensure authenticity. Surprisingly, there have been few attempts to produce a knockoff the design.

Ares Predator II
The Predator II was released in 2055 and ceased production within ten years. It featured a different appearance in comparison to its earlier and later brethren. It also had a reputation for being less sturdy than its predecessor. The weapon’s major selling point was the integral smartlink and streamlined ergonomics to enhance its concealed carry capabilities. The pistol has a trigger safety to minimize the chances of a misfire but lacks the room to use a smart safe system. Collectors regularly purchase these from dealers, as they are less common than the models preceding and succeeding them.

Designed for ease of use, the Striker lacks any of the electronics that modern pistols employ, making it immune to hacking and malware. Barrens Special
Not a specific gun, the term “barrens special” simply refers to some sort of heavy pistol that’s been cobbled together by someone equal parts resourceful and desperate. Commonly made with a knife welded onto the barrel as a jury-rigged bayonet, a barrens special can look intimidating, especially to someone unaccustomed with firearms. Barrens specials commonly serve as a form of barter currency - a gun valuable enough that there’s demand but not so valuable that it can’t be parted with.

Beretta 97
The Beretta 97 is a heavier-caliber development of the venerable Beretta 93. The 97 features a short-burst capability that is intended to provide limited suppression ability. The larger diameter ammunition is a rare choice for Beretta, as they have mainly opted for lighter rounds and excellent performance. The 97 was another EuroWars invention, but it has managed to be adopted by enough law enforcement agencies to remain in limited production. While most North American agencies have selected the thunderbolt or an Ares offering, Europe has remained loyal to the local manufacturer.

The use of the 99SC in several high-profile murders caused legislation to crack down on it in 2070, leading to a resurgence of popularity for the Beretta 97.

Cavalier Arms "Marshal"
Cavalier Arms recently introduced the Marshal, their first “variable loadout” heavy revolver in direct competition with the Ares Predator VI, which features a similar ammunition selection system. Comprising a powered cylinder, an under-barrel boxy ammunition reservoir system for spent brass, and ammunition transfer system, the Marshal can reload without opening the cylinder by accessing the weapon’s internal smartgun system. However, the weapon can only hold twelve rounds total; six in the cylinder and six in the reservoir along the weapon’s left side. And while the transfer system has proven to be more reliable than the Predator VI’s, the weight of the extra ammunition along one side of the weapon sometimes causes balance and accuracy issues at longer ranges.

Cavalier does not recommend the use of experimental explosive ammunition with the Sheriff due to unpredictable effects at flight terminus. The result of countless hours of data collection from Lone Star officers and equipment, the Thunderstruck is designed to handle the very worst of what the streets can throw against the Star. Production of the Thunderstruck is licensed to Cavalier, who can only sell a fraction of their production to non-Lone Star security forces. Possession of a Cavalier Thunderstruck while not a legitimate member of an authorized security force is a crime in most jurisdictions.

Colt M1991
The Colt M1991 is a design derived from the ancient M1911 pistol that was favored by American men for over a century. The M1991 largely resembles its predecessor but has slightly improved ergonomics. The weapon was largely a collectors’ piece when it was manufactured, but it was used by some of the early mercenary units employed in the EuroWars. A legitimate manufacturer has not been making this thing 40 years. Collectors typically purchase the original version of this handgun for roughly 3 to 4 times their street value.

Colt Government 2076
Governments need new weapons contracts for bribe purposes, so having a new standard issue after only ten years seems about par for the course. The years of technomancer and hacker fear since the ’60s have left the electronic firing 2066 in a lot of storage cabinets for fear of hacking. The 2076 takes a jump back to the style of the classic Manhunter and comes with an integral laser sight.

Falling a distant 3rd place between the constant advertising battle between the Savalette Guardian and the Ares Predator V, Colt has taken a different track with the latest iteration of the Manhunter. Removing the smartlink and the associated features like electronic safety and magazine ejection and shifting everything back to traditional mechanical mechanisms with the exception of a holographic sight. The worst a hacker can do is make you slightly less accurate with this gun and that appeals to a lot of the less technologically minded consumers. While production numbers are currently significantly smaller than its competitors, it is still readily available and a common sight on the streets.

It also enjoys collector fame as John Hollow, protagonist of British trid series "Nightwatch" uses it as his primary weapon. The HK Mk31 was designed as the successor for the successful Mk23. The barrel is intended to accept a suppressor, and an accessory rail underneath the frame will accept a laser aiming module or smartlink. The Mk31 was the first pistol accepted for use by the CAS military that utilized the smartlink system to enhance operator efficiency. HK briefly ordered a civilian version for enthusiasts but ceased production after only six years. These pistols are still sought after by collectors, although scarcity is driving up the price for pristine models.

From the ground up, the Urban Assassin is made for those in corporate extraterritoriality or use by military and police forces because of the expense and rarity of every part of the weapon, and few civilians have shown interest due to the volatility of nanotechnology since the CFD crisis.

From the legendary Urban line of firearms from Heckler & Koch, the Urban Fighter received a facelift and is leading the hand-held firearm on the market when it comes to inconspicuousness and untraceability. The non-metallic components make this weapon untracable by magnetic anomaly detectors, as does its sealed ammunition which is almost invisible to chemsniffers. The downside is that it has removed the Urban line's typical ability to accept modifications as well as the smartgun system, leaving it only with a non-metallic suppressor which is just as difficult to purchase as the weapon itself.

The PHP-131 was developed for smaller shooters who desire the firepower of a larger handgun but cannot handle the weight and bulk of such a weapon on a regular basis. The PHP-131 is manufactured with a modern composite frame using as few heavy components as possible. Modern construction techniques have also made the weapon a favorite of protective details, since the gun can pass through simple metal detectors without issue (we are aware of the complaints of our protective-services clients about this issue, and we are working to resolve it to our mutual satisfaction). Users should be aware, however, that the gun cannot pass through the chemical sniffers and backscatter radar used in modern screening techniques. Krupp Arms Lemat 2072 Revolver
This surprising offering from Krupp Arms is a throwback to the rare pistol used in the Confederacy during the Civil War. This pistol uses a double-barrel design with the cylinder rotating around a large central chamber that holds a single 20-gauge shotgun shell (most commonly loaded with a flechette round). A bit large for human hands with a strong kick, it its well in larger metahuman hands. This design combined with the Kriegfaust has some speculating that Krupp may be trying to compete with Krime for the metahuman weapons market.

Makarov v.22
The Makarov v.22 foregoes what most trids and history buffs might think of when they hear the word "Makarov" and ups the caliber up to a .44 Magnum payload. It was designed for Russian armed forces as their replacement sidearm just before the EuroWars and saw extensive use during and after by both the military, opposed guerrilla forces, and intelligence agencies. The downside was that the v.22 is truly unruly at range, but it is still produced decades after its initial run and is found in the 2080s in the hands of many Eastern European gangers thanks to its nearly unmatched stopping power.

Once a relic, the high-stopping power has made a comeback thanks to criminal elements in the Sixth World having heavy armor capabilities and for the odd goblin ganger who can stop 9MM with their dermal deposits and is now a common sight among the gendarmerie on the streets of France, especially popular as the gendarmerie issues color-coded speedloaders to ensure little to no mix-up in loads.

Even though Nemesis’ marketing calls the Praetorian II a “spectacular upgrade to a timeless classic,” this heavy pistol is nothing more than a functional yet unspectacular gun with a slightly above-average knife attached in an attempt to create a weapon that is greater than the sum of its parts, but in truth is pretty much just a gimmick. Even though it’s a gimmick weapon, it’s a popular one, especially among street-warrior types. As a melee weapon, the attached blade is serviceable but best utilized as a slashing weapon, which can sometimes be tricky in extreme close melee combat, where thrusting is a better tactic.

Ruger Thunderbolt
Lone Star's first weapon to come out entirely from their R&D department in 2054 was developed to address a problem threatening law enforcement officials throughout the world: too often, they found themselves outgunned by criminals and their service sidearms regularly failed to penetrate an assailant's armor. Ownership of this weapon is plagued by the fact that there are few replacement parts whatsoever since they have been out of production since 2066 and if you're unlucky enough to hit a Lone Star officer with it you may find yourself with a massive bounty on your head.
