Ares Thunderstruck Gauss Rifle
Ares has had their fair share of arms troubles in the 2070's but the Ares Thunderstruck was not one of them. A massive market success, the Thunderstruck has gained more brand recognition than the Panther XXL in the assault cannon category. It doesn't pack quite the punch of a standard assault cannon, but its lighter recoil load, quicker cycle time, and unmatched armor penetration have gone a long way to sway those consumers concerned about the heavier price tag.

The Thunderstruck uses both ammunition and energy for each round fired. The Thunderstruck can hold one small power pack or draw its energy from an external source such as a satchel power pack, power backpack, or vehicle power if mounted.

Ares Vigorous Assault Cannon
Designed to be a direct competitor to the legendary Panther Assault Cannon, the Vigorous was plagued by poor word of mouth soon after it's release. While the Vigorous was being slammed on the Matrix, social media, and any weapon outlet, those who actually purchased the weapon (at a massive discount, since Ares was only producing barely a dozen a month due to trickling sales) actually found it to be a solid performer in all aspects. Eventually word of mouth started to change and the Vigorous' reputation slowly began to shift. It still suffers from the negative opinions of the die hard haters, and the Vigorous has a poor reception despite having proven itself in the field. A bare-bones assault cannon, it doesn't have any fancy add-ons and instead was designed to be purposefully customized to it's users specifications. Extremely easy to modify and service - even in the field - if one can look past the bad press, the Vigorous is a reliable assault cannon for a discount price.

Ogre Hammer SWS Assault Cannon
"Pounds like no other" is the sales slogan attached to this heavy hitter. The Ogre Hammer puts a whole lot of hurt downrange by improving the weapon's recoil handling and cycle speed to allow slightly faster firing than other weapons in its class. It's called man-portable but that's a bit of a stretch due to it's length and weight.

Panther Assault Cannon
The original assault cannon. This lethal assault weapon fires stable superplast explosive warheads guaranteed to take out even the toughest opponents. The weapon comes with either a detachable underbarrel-mounted folding bipod or a shoulder strap and hip brace, mostly intended for trolls who can carry the load. Still manufactured by small workshops who flood shadow markets with knock-offs, replacement parts are many, even if the Panther XXL is the only officially licensed Panther assault cannon out there.

Ruhrmetall SMK 252
The Sturmmaschinekanone 252 (that's "assault cannon 252" in Herr Schmidt speak) from Ruhrmetall was originally designed as a light gun for armored personnel carriers such as the Wolf II. The Dragon Civil War and the deployments of MET2000 in other crisis situations showed the need for a heavy, yet still portable, infantry weapon of an appropriately massive caliber. Presented as a possible solution, the SMK 252 is a shoulder-carriable 25MM with high-penetration rounds. It's aimed primarily at cybernetically enhanced soldiers or "rugged metatypes" who can lift the enormous weight of the weapon - after all, 60kg plus recoil is one hell of a load. It's also not a weapon for the inexperienced, which is why so few find their ways into the shadows to begin with.
