Machine Guns come in three categories - light, medium, and heavy - that determine their heftiness, damage, and general portability.
All of them, even "light" ones, are bulky and unwieldy. A light machine gun is bigger and heavier than most rifles, while medium and heavy machine guns can only be carried by someone or something with a Strength of 3+ and 5+ respectively since they are designed as vehicle-mounted weapons.

This update to the "man portable light machine gun" fires light pistol rounds at an extremely high velocity. Crackshot Arms' LMG offering comes from the Motor City in the wake of the unpleasantness before Ares moved out. Crackshot's owners/lead designers assembled this rotary shotgun-LMG hybrid to deal with local hostilities and the first Roaring Thunder was actually put on the line to defend a civilian aid station! On the heavier end for an LMG and at just over 1.25 meters long, it looks like a crude metal box with a tri-barrel assembly at the front end, a belt-feed mechanism in the middle, a handle on the top and a trigger and grip in the rear. It's high rate of fire makes it difficult to employ without some kind of gyro-stabilization or a fixed-position mount such as a tripod or augmented strength. A truly bare-bones weapon, it has become popular with certain sects and individuals in shadow communities across North America.

The successor to the AA-52 Machine Gun conceived and developed in the wake of the EuroWars, the AA-62 is the domestic production French squad automatic weapon meant to be lightweight and easy to use while carrying the firepower of the FN MAG 5. Ruhrmetall SFM-11M
Part of the 2079 armament for the North German Confederation's coastal defense units called for a Light Machine Gun. While Ruhrmetall won out easily with the SFP-9M SMG, the LMG proved to be a harder fight. Designed with long range and good firepower, the trick came with making it usable on boats and helicopters as well as easily portable as an infantry weapon that won't drown a soldier. Like it's little sibling the SFP-9M, the SFM-11M is completely waterproof and resistant to the saltwater of the North Sea. Normal belt ammunition can still be used, and critics have complained about low penetration power which is rated at just that of an assault rifle. Despite that, the weapon has already been used on several times with HAZMAT units on the NGC's new Dogfish-class cruisers.

The heaviest of Ingram's Knight Machine Gun line, the Black Knight is a beast even by HMG standards. The Black Knight is almost 50% bigger than the Grey and White Knights and comes in just shy of 1.6 meters in overall length and weighs close to 30kg. Using .50 caliber rounds, the Black Knight has a slightly slower rate of fire than most HMGs but it makes up for this with an accuracy not found in most weapons of its class. The latest heavy weapon from Ruhrmetall is the first product under their new management. The SFW is not man-portable: instead, it is available only for heavy drones and vehicles and is intended to penetrate vehicle armor. While not intended for field use, an augmented ork or troll could feasibly do so, but the recoil and size would still make it extremely unwieldy.
