Building and repairing items, including people, requires the right tools for the job. Tools must be bought separately for each Specialization, and a Specialization is required to operate tools. For example, an Electronics (Hardware) Kit, a Biotech (Medicine) Shop, or an Engineering (Armorer) Facility.
A kit is portable and contains the basic gear to make standard repairs.
Without at least a kit in the field, a Specialization may not be able to be used.
A kit is easily kept on your person, often times inside of something like a purse or backpack.
A shop is transportable in the back of a van and contains more advanced tools for building and repairing. Shops are stocked with standard spare parts.
Shops offer a +1 Dice Pool Modifier for appropriate tests on site.
A Shop can be kept at a stationary point or room but transport takes up to 1 hour to pack it into a van-sized vehicle or larger.
A facility needs a building and is immobile because of the bulky and heavy machines involved, but it can be used for very advanced constructions and modifications.
Facilities offers a +1 Dice Pool Modifier and a +1 Dice Reroll for appropriate tests on site. Facilities fall under gamemaster approval due to their size.
Facilities cannot be relocated.
Biotechnology is a wide-ranging skill primarily used by doctors and scientists to grow organic body parts. This skill is the basis for cloning as well as all forms of bioware. Provided the right equipment is available, biotechnology can be used to repair damaged bioware, clone new tissue, or detect any bioware in a subject’s body.
