Grammar Week 3 Wednesday.mp4

We know adverbs can tell us more information about a verb. It can tell us how, when, and where.

In your workbook, make a table with the headings how, when and where.

Brainstorm a list of adverbs that fit into those headings.

After you have thought of a range of adverbs, choose the most interesting and create 5 full sentences using adverbs from your list. Choose a different verb for each sentence.

Remember a capital letter and correct punctuation.

Action Verbs

  • dancing

  • singing

  • running

  • jumping

  • walking

  • skipping

  • hopping

For example:

I am always dancing energetically in my living room.

Tomorrow, we are going to carefully climb the monkey bars at the park.

Challenge:

Underline the how, where and when adverbs in different colours.

e.g. Tomorrow, we are going to carefully climb the monkey bars at the park.

Read the story ‘Can I Be Your Dog?' – Troy Cummings

In this story Arfy is trying to convince the reader to give him his forever home.

Your task is to brainstorm your reasons for agreeing to let Arfy move into your home.

You can list Arfy’s reasons, as well as add in some of your own.

TENS Game - Cards and Numbers

Pick your level.

Play for 10 minutes before your maths task.

You will need:

  • playing cards (face cards removed)

  • a partner

1 star.MOV

Turn over a card, count the symbols and display the number using fingers. Take turns with the other player.

2 star.MOV

Turn over 2 cards and say the numbers out loud. One partner covers one card and other partner adds the two numbers from the cards together.

3 star.MOV

Split the cards into 2 piles.

Turn 1 card from each pile. Start with the bigger card and count on using symbols on the playing card.

4 star.MOV

Use a deck of cards with numbers from 5 up. Take 2 cards and ask your partner to add them together by saying the numbers out loud. Do this without showing the cards.

5 star.MOV

Each player takes 4 cards and makes 2, 2-digit numbers.

Add together and describe your strategy to your partner. The winner is the player with the highest total for each round.

I can describe the part left over when a collection of objects CANNOT be distributed EQUALLY

We cannot always share everything in equal groups. There may be times when we have a few left over and then are arguing about who will get the extra amount. How do we know how much will be left over?

Watch Mrs Khakh explain how we calculate the amount that is our remainder (left over).

lesson 3 part 1.mp4

OPTIONAL - If you are interested in another way of calculating our remainder then watch Mrs Khakh here. She will be using the skip counting strategy.
