Maths

I can use concrete materials to show subtraction.

Explicit mini lesson for this activity has been posted on Seesaw.

Time to put your Maths brain on.

Have your playing cards ready. You need the cards 2-10 only. Mix them up and put them face down in a neat pile. Have your counters ready too.

  • Turn over 2 cards. Put the bigger number first.

  • Make a group of counters that matches that card.

  • Get the other card with the smaller number and take that number of counters away from the bigger number.

  • How many counters are left? Say what you did out aloud...

Say... "Here are 9 counters. I take 3 counters away. There are 6 counters left."

  • Turn over the next two cards and play again.

Challenge

Use your playing cards to make 2-digit numbers to take away. Always start with the bigger number.

PD/H/PE

Alphabet Walk

Go for a walk in and around your house or go for a walk around your neighbourhood.

Try to find all the letters of the alphabet on signs, labels, in nature, everywhere and around you.

For Example, which letters can you see here?

Optional Activity:

Write down the alphabet on a piece of paper.

Tick off the alphabet as you find things that start with that letter. See how many times you can tick off each letter.

Music

Rap a tap tap!

This activity has been uploaded to Seesaw.

You will need your plastic container and two pencils to make a drum. Watch the Seesaw video about a famous tap dancer and drum along with the rap a tap tap part. Create your own drumming pattern and record it on Seesaw.

Well done for finishing another great day of learning!
