Handwriting

I can practise the formation of letters that do not start from the top.

It's time to practise our handwriting skills. Watch this Clever Pickles video and then it will be your turn to have a go.

It's your turn to practise your letter formation on the handwriting lines or the handwriting lines with cats.


Be mindful of your starting point when writing the letter /d/.


Once you have completed your letters and words you can try and create your own delicious /d/ doughnuts!

Reading

I can identify the point of view of a known character

Watch another story about our friend the pigeon. This time it's our turn to try and convince him!

Watch 'The Pigeon Needs a Bath' by Mo Willems.

The pigeon did not want to take a bath!

How do you react when you are asked to do something you really don’t want to do?


Draw a picture of the pigeon being asked to do something you don't like doing.

  • What would he be saying?

  • What would he be doing?

You might like to turn your picture into a comic strip. Does the pigeon win in the end?

Challenge

Record a message for the Pigeon trying to convince him to take his bath.

Writing

I can understand the structure of a procedure

I can write steps to complete a procedure

Revisit the clip of Jenny from Bunnings making her grass head.

  1. Use your verbs from yesterday to write some of the steps for Jenny’s Grass Head procedure.

  2. Remember to start each sentence with your verb.

  3. Check your full stops and capital letters as you go.

Challenge

Draw and label a completed Grass Head.

Use your materials list from yesterday to help you.

TENS Game - Dice Target

Pick your level.

Play for 5-10 minutes before your maths task.

You will need:

  • Dice

  • Counters (such as dry pasta, lego blocks, paper clips, etc.)

  • Whiteboard and marker (or paper and a pencil)

Roll one dice. Say the number on the dice and get counters to match that number. Write the number on a whiteboard.

Roll 2 dice. Cover one dice and add together. Write number sentence on a whiteboard.

Using the number 9 as a starting number, roll a dice and add the number shown. Write number sentence on a whiteboard.

Using 15 as the target number, students aim to get as close as possible by using addition or subtraction. Roll a dice 4 times. Players can choose whether to add or subtract the number rolled to total closest to the target as possible. Write number sentence on whiteboard.

Using 21 as the target number, students aim to get as close as possible by using addition or subtraction. Roll a dice 5 times. Players can choose whether to add or subtract the number rolled to total closest to the target as possible. Write number sentence on whiteboard.

I can collect data and create a picture graph

You will need:

  • paper

  • pencil

  • handful of pencils/counters/lego (anything with different colours)

Use tally marks to record information about this collection of objects. Then, create a picture graph to represent the items.

Remember to include all of the important features of a picture graph.

Once you have created your graph. Write at least 2 statements about the information.

Challenge

Collect some items from around your house or backyard. Tally them up and then create a picture graph to represent the data.

Flip pencils from the back of your hand and catch them.

Start with 2 pencils and work your way up all the way to flipping and catching 12 pencils.

If you are competing against someone then see who could flip the most?

Otherwise, you have a minute to win it!

Please make sure you have read a book today, you can find some on PM Online , SPELD or read one you have at home.

You can record your reading on your home reading log and earn some star awards when we get back to school.
