Handwriting

I can practise the formation of letters in the bat and ball family

It's time to practise our handwriting skills.

Watch the Clever Pickles video and join in the activity.

It's your turn to practise your letter formation on the handwriting lines or the handwriting lines with cats.

Once you have written the long date, practised writing your upper and lower case letters and brainstormed interesting words with the letter /b/, turn these interesting words into an interesting alliteration sentence.

You also might like to write a row of the lower case letter /b/ and transform them into brilliant bats!

Writing

I can explain a point of view

Watch and listen to the story I’m Trying to Love Rocks by Bethany Barton again.

Your job is to list all the reasons against rocks. This means you disagree that rocks are likeable.

You can list the storyteller's reasons as well as add in some of your own. See if you can make your teacher laugh!

Choose 2 or 3 of these opinions and write a sentence for each idea, explaining your reasons.

Remember to write in full sentences and include ‘because’ to link your opinions and reasons.

Challenge

Design and draw your own volcano.

Explain your design, why have you used the shapes you have?

What would you expect to happen if your volcano exploded?

I can estimate, measure, order and compare the capacity of different containers

Watch the video explaining what to do for today's lesson.

Capacity 1.mp4

Now it is your turn!

  1. Estimate the capacity of each of your containers and place them in order from smallest to largest.

  2. Compare the capacity of each of your containers and check to see if you had them in the correct order. Remember to fill your containers right to the top before pouring them.

Remember:

  • If a container overflows, it holds LESS than the other container. This means it has a smaller capacity.

  • If the water doesn't fill a container, it holds MORE than other container. This means it has a larger capacity.

Please keep your containers for tomorrow's lesson.

Lunchtime Zoom (Not 1/2M)
