Brief History

The first organized Guard was under the captainship of Daniel Walton in 1864. The city Guard was to protect the city at any chance. Most of the Guard comprised of Minute-Men. They had regular drills every night and practiced to fight against angry Native Americans. This list contains all the men of Richmond, including those outside of Richmond, who were born, lived or buried in Richmond and who have participated in war efforts.
