Pebble

Something new had dawned upon

In him a new truth was born

The world would not remain the same

And he would attain great fame

It was such a giant leap

The whole night he could not sleep

While thinking how to name this new-born

Night turned into dawn

He then decided to go for a walk

So that with the sea he could talk

While walking, a small pebble entered his shoe

Moist of the morning dew

As he stooped to remove the stone

Something emerged from the world of unknown

As the wind started to blow

Something he came to know

“On this tree so big

I sit on a very small twig

To the roar of this vast sea

I have offered only a small plea

In front of mysteries all

My knowledge is like this pebble so small”

Thus to name his discovery new

He got a cue

He decided to call it calculus

Even though his discovery was fabulous

To the world a great truth he had shown

But chose to call it a small stone
