River and Ocean

Wanting to explore the journey of the river to the ocean

The traveller consulted the scriptures with great devotion

The manuals differed in their account

About the river’s path as it flows from the mount

Then he consulted men who were wise

But varying was their advice

He then dropped all contradictions

And drew a map with just the common predictions

The long journey he did start

With the help of his chart

But the river did not adhere

The map it did not revere

By opinions the river was not bound

As its own wisdom was profound

To his logic the river did not aways conform

About change, it also did not inform

The river can only thrive

When its current is alive

The traveller soon realised, the river has not gone astray

Rather it’s the map that could not fathom the river’s way

A living law is subject to mutation

While justice remains its destination

To justice law may drive

Only when it remains fluid and alive
