Hide and Seek

“Where do you hide?

With rules are you tied?

Where do you perch?

And how do I search?

To you I seek

Please do speak

I am in force

But in your name I wish to enforce

Where are you cast?”

The law so asked

Justice then replied

Merrily from her hide

“Sometimes between the lines

And at times out of the confines

Sometimes beneath the word

And at times away from the herd

Fix me in the letter

And I’ll defy the fetter

Where you most abound

There I’m rare to be found

I hate to settle

On the move I find my finest fettle

I follow no map and I carry no chart

So, seek me with all your heart

The more you seek

The more I attain to my peak

With you I like to play that ancient game

Hide and seek is its name”
