Lawyer’s Truth
Two brothers lived together
Much wealth they did gather
But it was all through theft and deceit
One was a swindler and other was a cheat
From grace they did fall
Vices they had all
But of each other they were very fond
Of love there was an indelible bond
When one of them died
In grief the other one cried
Lest his brother’s memory should fade
A grand funeral he arrayed
But for service no priest was keen
As the brothers’ reputation was rotten and mean
Further he insisted that his brother be called a saint
Which proved to be the biggest constraint
Then he named a big sum
Still for service no one was ready to come
No one was willing to tell such a lie
As the dead man was a swindler and sly
At last a lawyer he approached
And the difficulty he broached
With professional oath the lawyer was bound
With truth his words must resound
But the sum named was such
And the temptation was so much
So, pandering to the greed
The lawyer agreed
The following day
Where the decorated coffin lay
The lawyer came down
Dressed in his gown
In front of the crowd
He started the service after he bowed
“The man you see in the coffin there
For him I do the prayer
He was a swindler to the core
And a rotter for sure
In the name of God I swear
No one did he ever spare
A villain, a delinquent and a culprit
There was hardly a crime that he did not commit
He had every possible taint
But in comparison to his brother he was a saint”
