Forest Trail
Every forest trail
Tells an interesting tale
It can lead you to many a station
And maybe to some unknown destination
Why it never conforms to the straight line
Why it always forms a zigzag design
We can’t always decipher the reason
But someone has crafted it with precision
When man appeared on Earth
And announced his birth
These trails he found
Already marked on the ground
But these trails who made
No stone no plaque ever displayed
Numerous animals before man
Walked on these trails with their clan
Following animal footprints
Man always got hints
He then explored fresh woods and pastures new
But these trails always gave him the clue
On these trails man has now built roads
Superhighways carrying civilisational loads
But beneath the surface of a modern highway
An old trail would always lay
Are human customs not like a trail
Some inherent truth they always entail
Carried forward from the animal past
Wisdom of ages they have amassed
Customs of the yore
Their wisdom into legislations they always did pour
Whenever I scratched the surface of a modern law
The foundation of an old custom I always saw
