Harry Potter

So last week, Ronny Poh (NYC) Nur Ariffin Bin Rohezan (NYC) Enling Shane (NYC) and I did a framing on harry potter.

Harry potter *inserts voldermort sound*

Participants will be framed that they are newly enrolled into Hogwarts course for 1 year (5days). On the first day they will be separated into different houses; Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

They will be choosing their house based on games eg. Helium stick, keypunch. Instructors will be addressed as Professors.

Participant will be earning points to win the wizard cup. The wizard cup winner will win an award eg. Apple crumble.

Points System

Questions:

-   After every briefing participant will answer questions asked by instructors. (this is to instil discipline from pax during briefs)

-   To answer the question, they will need to shout out their house name

-   Each questions will be awarded (10 points)

KOP:

Wet exit

-   Fastest team to finish wet exit drills (50 points)

-   Proficiency (50 points) *open to all

-   Team spirit (50 points) *open to all

TX Rescue

-   Fastest single pair of TX Rescue (100 points)

-   Proficiency (50 points) *open to all

-   Team spirit (50 points) *open to all

Belay school:

-   Fastest group (50 points)

-   Proficiency, pax able to fully execute the drills without the need of instructors to constantly remind them of belay techniques (50 points)

-   Participant does not need instructor to tie more than 3 fig.8 for them

Land Expedition:

-   Participant will travel around Ubin to do up a brochure on the heritage of PU.

-participant will choose their brochure topic with the points that they have thus far. Leading house will get to choose their brochure topic.

-   Brochure will be graded in 3 criteria.

- design-illustration (25 points)

-content-interesting/new (25 points)

-team spirit (25 points)

Sea Expedition:

-   This is the final challenge, the participant will go on the great wizard war against the one who can’t be name, Voldermort (mother nature). Upon completion of the expedition all houses will receive 100 points.

What work?

-   Participants are able to buy into the idea of the framing. As the “wizard cup” is a competition pax are also always looking for chance to earn points such as performing task that display team spirit.

-   Using the point system engages the participant constantly such as asking questions that will earn them points after every briefing will make them listen much more attentively.

-   Using reference from the book will also entice pax to buy into the idea of harry potter framing.

What did not work?

-   For land expedition, the mobile decided to do up brochures on different places and at the end of the day they would need to do a show and tell which will be graded by the instructor. We realised that even though some of the brochure have a lot of knowledge of the location inside but it wasn’t enough to entice the others. What could be done better is to ask them to create a skit on the places they have went to. This allow a better interaction between watches and also create a much more relaxed environment.
