Update to Main Sail Rig (Copied from Din's Workplace post, 17 July 2024)
Tearing was observed on the luff of the main sails, indicating stress points during sailing, requiring repair by an external vendor. The luff of the main sail was reinforced, and an additional grommet was added to bring it closer to the end of the yardarm, effectively redistributing the load during sailing and preventing stress on the insertion point.
For trainers who will be sailing these Cutters again for their programmes, do take note of the redesigned main sails. They should use the sheet at the yardarm (bottom) to tie in the grommet closer to the yardarm during setting up the main sail.
