In the past, the land that OBS currently occupies used to house various rubber estates and granite quarries amongst other places of interest. From evidences of an old rubber plantations to Taoist shrines believed to be used by workers and residents, this guide hopes to enhance your programmes by equipping you with essential historical information that will intrigue your participants.

These shrines appear in two clusters, one near the shoreline and another slightly up the slope on the crevice of a hillock.

Mdm Goh's Tomb
She used to live in a nearby estate and was buried here after her death.
Every year during Qing Ming Festival, her family writes in to OBS to seek permission to sweep the tomb and to give a fresh coat of paint to the words.

The shape and location of this machine suggests that it used to be a rubber press to compress processed rubber latex into sheets for ease of transport and sales.
The large rectangular slab is likely a platform to distribute its weight over a larger surface area.
