Nancy Wilson Hawkshaw

Nancy Marianne Wilson was born on October 1 1946 in North Vancouver. She attended Queen Mary Elementary School, Hamilton Junior Secondary School and North Vancouver Secondary School. She distinguished herself as a business education student, excelling in typing and shorthand.

She will be remembered even more vividly, however, as a Scottish Highland dancer: she ranked third in the world in the Highland Jig, she was Pacific West Coast International Champion in 1962, and was West Canadian Champion every year from 1952 to 1962. She taught Highland dancing in North Vancouver from 1963 until 1985. She died May 4 1992, after a long and painful battle with lung cancer.
