Claire MacKenzie

Claire MacKenzie was born in 1912 in Winnipeg, the daughter of E.L. Sauder. She graduated from York House School for girls and attended the University of British Columbia for two years before she married Murray H. MacKenzie. Besides raising three children, she worked on various committees at Shaughnessy Heights United Church. She was also an avid gardener and artist, and she doted on her seven grandchildren. In addition, she traveled extensively through the Orient with her husband, eventually taking up the study of the Japanese language. She died in Vancouver in 1989. Her daughter, Joan C. Forrester, is one of the directors of our Foundation.
