Leo Marshall

Leo Marshall was born in 1928. He served as a teacher, vice-principal and principal in Saskatchewan and also as executive assistant for the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation until 1975, when he moved to BC. Dr. Marshall acted as North Vancouver's assistant superintendent until 1984, when he became superintendent.

He was known as an innovator in education, an advocate for all children, and an outstanding superintendent. Dr. Marshall was a great friend of teachers, making them feel proud to be teachers and proud of their contributions to education. He is particularly memorable for his favorite saying: no matter how "hard done by" you feel, look around and you'll find somebody who is worse off.

Dr. Marshall died on January 25, 1989. Two scholarships and a bursary were established in his memory by his many friends and colleagues.
