Elizabeth Frith

Elizabeth Frith was born Elizabeth Aldon Stewart July 29 1918 on West 23rd Street in North Vancouver. One of her earliest memories is attending the opening of North Vancouver High School on the northeast corner of 23rd Street and St Georges Avenue in 1923.

She entered North Van High as a student in 1932, and in 1936 graduated with the highest marks not just in the school, but also in the entire Province of British Columbia. She studied history at the University of British Columbia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1940. After that she married Philip Frith and raised four children before returning to UBC to obtain a teaching certificate and her Master of Arts degree. In 1956, she joined the staff of North Van High as a Social Studies teacher and counsellor. When North Van High closed in 1979, she moved to Argyle Secondary School, from where she retired in 1983.
