Don Kay


Donald William Kay was born June 18, 1923, in Penticton, B.C., where he attended school. During the Second World War, he served with the Medical Corps in the liberation of Italy. On returning home, he graduated with honours in Chemistry from UBC and began teaching. He served as a teacher with the Department of National Defence in Germany and came to North Vancouver High School in 1961, where he became known and liked as a dedicated and fair teacher. When the school closed in 1979, he moved to Seycove for a year and then to Windsor. In January, 1981, he died of leukemia. The Don Kay Memorial Bursary was founded by his former students, colleagues and friends.
