REMARKS:
Field Conditions Summary
Exercise NOTAM for JBCAS
Translation
Daily active hours: 1200Z to 2359Z (local day ops and night ops).
Expect heavy transient flight operations.
Increased ramp congestion (Bravo and Charlie ramps).
Temporary restricted airspace (TFR) active during exercise periods.
Because JBCAS and Prattsville AFB are custom-built airfields, they do not exist in the native MSFS navigation database. This creates a split environment where in-sim ATC works normally, but external systems like SayIntentions or VATSIM-style AI may not properly recognize the fields.
This guide establishes the standard operating flow for arrivals and departures.
• These systems do not recognize JBCAS or Prattsville AFB.
• They cannot see:
The runways
Tower frequencies
Navaids
Patterns
Taxi routes
They will still vector you through the airspace, but they treat the bases as “nonexistent terrain.”
Fully supports:
• JBCAS Ground
• JBCAS Tower
• JBCAS CTAF
• JBCAS ATIS
• Full departure/arrival flows
• Pattern ops
• Runway assignment
Same applies to Prattsville AFB.
Contact the in-sim JBCAS (or Prattsville) Ground for clearance, taxi, and departure runway.
Takeoff normally and follow assigned instructions.
Once airborne, MSFS ATC will handoff to Little Rock Approach on 119.5.
Little Rock may later handoff to Memphis Center, depending on flight level and direction.
This entire chain works normally.
Because external ATC systems don’t see the airbase, the proper approach profile is:
Accept vectors as normal.
When you are within 10–15 miles NW of JBCAS, you’ll reach the vicinity of 19AR – Naylor Field, a real-world airstrip the sim does recognize.
Use 19AR as your final pre-arrival landmark.
JBCAS lies approximately 5 miles north of Naylor Field.
At 19AR:
Cancel flight following
Or cancel IFR
Squawk 1200
Switch to in-sim JBCAS Tower/CTAF for arrival and landing instructions.
If you file to 19AR intentionally, you can:
Fly toward Naylor
Cancel IFR
Tune JBCAS tower
Join the pattern or request a straight-in
Same method as JBCAS, except the landmark is visual terrain only.
• SayIntentions will not see the field.
• Cancel IFR or flight following 5–10 miles out.
• Switch to Prattsville’s CTAF/Tower frequencies.
• Join the pattern via standard left or right traffic depending on runway assignment.
Departure:
JBCAS/Prattsville Ground → Tower → Little Rock App (119.5) → Memphis Center (as assigned)
Arrival:
External ATC → Navigate via 19AR Naylor Field → Cancel FF/IFR → Squawk 1200 → Tune JBCAS Tower/CTAF
Reason:
SayIntentions/VATSIM-style AI does not recognize custom airfields.
MSFS ATC does.
