Welcome to JBCAS Operations Center
NOT YET AVAILABLE, COMING SOON!
The JBCAS ATC Console is the desktop ops center for Joint Base Cabot Air Station in MSFS 2024. Connect it to the JBCAS stack (SimHost + Ops Hub) for live sim data, then use Communications, missions, traffic, weather, and airfield tools from one interface while you fly. Built for structured sim operations professional in layout, simulation in purpose.
JBCAS ATC Console — Operations Overview
OVERVIEW
The JBCAS ATC Console is the desktop operations center for Joint Base Cabot Air Station (KNAV) in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It is used to manage base operations while you fly: radio communications with ATC, mission activity, traffic, weather, airfield systems, and related coordination tools. It is built for flight simulation structured and professional in presentation but intended for sim operations, not real-world military or ATC use.
This application is the primary ops interface for the JBCAS environment. It works with the KNAV airfield and the JBCAS data stack so that procedures, taxi routes, frequencies, and base workflows reflect the simulated installation rather than a generic airport add-on.
The console is a Windows desktop application. It does not replace the simulator. You fly in MSFS 2024; you operate and monitor base activity from the console.
HOW IT WORKS WITH JBCAS AND MSFS 2024
JBCAS uses a connected stack on your PC:
1. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 — your flight session and the KNAV airfield in the sim world.
2. JBCAS SimHost — connects to the sim through SimConnect and handles live data such as aircraft position, radios, transponder state, and sim-side commands (for example AI traffic and airfield-related actions).
3. JBCAS Ops Hub — links the console, SimHost, and optional portal or remote services so telemetry and commands stay synchronized.
4. JBCAS ATC Console — your ops center. It registers with the Ops Hub, receives live sim state, and sends operational commands back through the stack when needed.
For normal use, MSFS 2024 and JBCAS SimHost should be running and connected before you rely on live data or spawn commands from the console. If SimHost is not connected, the console may still be usable for planning and configuration, but live sim-linked functions will not reflect your current flight.
Optional add-ons (in-sim EFB mini console, portal access) can display selected status inside the cockpit or on other devices. The desktop console remains the main authority for base operations.
BASIC WORKFLOW
1. Start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and load a flight at or near KNAV (or your planned operating area).
2. Start the JBCAS stack components (SimHost and Ops Hub as configured for your setup).
3. Launch the JBCAS ATC Console and confirm connection status on the Home tab (sim link, hub, and related indicators).
4. Configure your identity and radios in Communications (callsign, squadron, aircraft type, COM frequencies as applicable).
5. Operate from the console tabs as your session requires:
- Communications — ATC radio, transcript, strip board
- Mission Planning / Mission Monitor — plan and track sorties and exercises
- Traffic Radar / Live Map — situational awareness
- Weather / Broadcast — ATIS, base conditions, announcements
- AI Traffic — manage AI aircraft in the sim environment
- Airfield Management — airfield lighting and related controls
- Emergency Services, Range Scheduling, EOD — specialized base activity as needed
6. Use push-to-talk (PTT) on your configured binding to transmit on COM1/COM2. ATC replies are generated from KNAV airfield data and your reported position when sim telemetry is available.
7. End your session by closing the console and stack components in an orderly way after your flight is complete.
COMMUNICATIONS
The Communications tab is the center of ATC interaction. Set your callsign and aircraft details before transmitting. Tune COM radios to KNAV frequencies (Ground, Tower, and related stations as listed in Airport Info or your frequency reference).
Hold PTT to transmit; release to send. Speech is transcribed and processed by the ATC logic, which uses authoritative KNAV layout data for taxi, runway, and surface operations. Replies may be spoken through configured text-to-speech when enabled in Settings.
ATC behavior is deterministic and location-aware when sim position data is present. It is designed for simulation realism at KNAV, not certification or real-world training credit.
MISSION AND BASE OPERATIONS
Mission Planning and Mission Monitor support sortie planning, range activity, and ongoing exercise tracking. AI Traffic allows spawning and managing AI aircraft through the sim stack. Range Scheduling and EOD tabs support scheduled range and detonation-area activity aligned with the JBCAS scenario.
Weather, Broadcast, and PA System tabs support ATIS-style information, base announcements, and public-address style messaging within the sim environment. Emergency Services coordinates simulated emergency response when required by your scenario.
These tools are meant to support structured sim sessions from a single pattern flight to a multi-aircraft exercise from one consolidated interface.
REQUIREMENTS (GENERAL)
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
- JBCAS KNAV scenery/environment in the sim
- JBCAS stack (SimHost, Ops Hub) configured and running for live sim integration
- Windows PC capable of running the console alongside the sim
- Optional: microphone and PTT binding for voice ATC; optional portal or EFB add-on for in-cockpit or remote status
Refer to project documentation (SimConnect setup, Ops Hub alignment) for installation and troubleshooting specific to your build.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
JBCAS ATC Console is a flight simulation operations tool. It is not affiliated with any real military unit, FAA facility, or official ATC system. All phraseology, procedures, and base naming are for immersive sim use at Joint Base Cabot Air Station (KNAV) only.
