Environmental Management Office - Joint Base Cabot Air Station
JBCAS is committed to protecting the environment through effective recycling, conservation, and sustainability programs.
Recycling Services:
Plastic, glass, aluminum, cardboard, and paper accepted.
Recycling bins are located across work centers, housing areas, and common facilities.
Used oil and automotive battery recycling available at the Auto Hobby Shop.
Hazardous Waste Management:
All hazardous materials disposal (paint, chemicals, electronics) must be coordinated through the Environmental Management Office.
Unauthorized dumping or mishandling of hazardous waste is strictly prohibited and may result in administrative or legal action.

Environmental Impact Program (Wildlife and Pollution Control)
Environmental Impact and Conservation Office
The JBCAS Environmental Impact and Conservation Office oversees all environmental compliance programs to protect local wildlife, water systems, air quality, and natural resources.
Primary Focus Areas:
Wildlife Management (protection of native species and BASH hazard control)
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Programs
Hazardous Material Handling and Spill Response
Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling Programs
Base Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
Base Environmental Policies:
No unauthorized dumping of chemicals, oils, or trash
Mandatory spill reporting within 24 hours
Participation in annual base clean-up and Earth Day events

99th Civil Engineering Squadron (99 CES) - Joint Base Cabot Air Station
The 99th Civil Engineering Squadron (99 CES) provides critical infrastructure, maintenance, and emergency response services in support of the daily operations, long-term sustainability, and strategic mission readiness of Joint Base Cabot Air Station.
Core Responsibilities:
Airfield Maintenance (runway inspections, lighting systems, pavement repair)
Facility Sustainment and Management (base buildings, housing units, utilities)
Environmental Compliance (stormwater management, hazardous waste control)
Fire Protection Services (see separate Fire Department listing)
Emergency Engineering Response (natural disasters, bomb threats, facility damage recovery)
Snow and Ice Removal Operations (winter months as applicable)
Base Support Services:
Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) repair
Electrical grid maintenance and backup generator operations
Water, sewer, and storm drainage maintenance
Land surveying and base expansion project support

Fire and Emergency Services (FES) - Joint Base Cabot Air Station
The JBCAS Fire and Emergency Services (FES) team protects personnel, facilities, and mission assets through 24/7 fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials (HAZMAT) response, and emergency medical response operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) operations
Structural firefighting and base-wide fire protection
Emergency Medical Response (EMR and EMT certified staff)
HAZMAT containment and decontamination
Fire Prevention Program (facility inspections, public education)
Specialized Capabilities:
Rapid airfield crash response
Confined space and high-angle rescue
Mutual aid agreements with local civilian fire departments

Fuels Management Flight - Joint Base Cabot Air Station
The Fuels Management Flight ensures the safe storage, quality control, and delivery of aviation and ground fuels across the installation in support of all airfield and vehicle operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Storage and Testing of JP-8, Jet A, Diesel, and Unleaded Fuels
Aircraft Refueling (Hot and Cold Pit Refueling)
Government Vehicle (GOV) Fuel Station Operations
Emergency Fuel Spill Response and Cleanup
Compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Air Force Petroleum Agency standards
