Associate State Judge

The candidates below are all running for separate seats, meaning they are NOT running against each other.

Kiesha R. Storey (Incumbent)

Judge Kiesha R. Storey serves as the Judge in Division A of the DeKalb County State Court- Traffic Division. She is a first generation college graduate, having received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College in 1997. She went on to attend Emory University School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2000. After becoming a member of the State Bar of Georgia in November of 2000, Judge Storey practiced for a short time in personal injury and workers’ compensation firm before entering public service as an Assistant District Attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit. In 2005, Judge Storey left the District Attorney’s office and opened her own law office. In May 2010, Judge Storey returned to prosecution full-time as an Assistant Solicitor-General in the Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor-General. She received recognition from the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia as the Assistant Solicitor-General of the Year in 2014.

Ronald B. Ramsey (Incumbent)

While working full-time as a federal investigator and hearing officer, Judge Ramsey enrolled as an evening student at John Marshall Law School. Immediately upon being admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1992, Judge Ramsey became a member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) legal team. Judge Ramsey left government service in 1994 to become the Southeast Regional Counsel for the Laborers International Union. He later became the Director of Labor Relations and Legal Affairs for the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and was appointed as the first African-American to serve as a Municipal Court Judge in the City of Stone Mountain, Georgia. He has also served for 9 years in the GA Senate. Judge Ramsey has been married to his wife, Doris, for over 31 years and they have two children both of whom are graduates of the University System of Georgia.

Brian K. Ross

Judge Brian K. Ross was appointed to serve as a judge for the State Court of DeKalb County by Governor Nathan Deal in July of 2015. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida in 1993. Upon graduation, Judge Ross served as an officer in the United States Army. In 1996, Judge Ross left the Army to attend the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served as President of the Graduate and Professional Scholars. Early in his legal career, Judge Ross served as a prosecuting attorney in the Newton County District Attorney’s Office. Judge Ross entered the private practice of law in June 2003. In June 2013, Judge Ross returned to prosecution as the head of the Crimes Against Women section of the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office. He is married to the Judge Eleanor L. Ross and they are the proud parents of two daughters.
