The Clerk of the State Court performs all administrative functions of the State Court as prescribed by law and court rules. This office is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of all court proceedings, including all traffic offenses, misdemeanors and certain civil actions. In addition, all monies of the court are received and disbursed by the clerk. Angie Davis is the current Clerk of State Court in Cobb County.
Allison Barnes Salter is the Division I Post 1 judge for the Cobb County State Court in Georgia. Salter was elected to the court in the nonpartisan general election on May 24, 2016.

John was born in Darien, Connecticut in 1964. He attended Florida Southern College and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University School of Law in 1990. In addition to the Georgia and Florida Bar, John has been admitted to practice before the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court North District of Georgia and the Middle District of Florida and is a current District I State Court Judge for Cobb County. Joe grew up on a family farm in North Georgia. Joe received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia, where he was a campus leader. He is in his 33rd year of practice and has worked at large and small firms, as well as served for over a decade in the Cobb County Attorney’s Office. For the past several years, Joe has continued his active jury trial practice at the Marietta law firm of Downey & Cleveland, L.L.P. and has represented individuals, businesses, and local governments in trial and appellate courts across Georgia. Mr. Atkins is active in the community, including having provided leadership in a local Boy Scout Troop, the Rotary Club of Marietta, and his place of worship. Joe lives in East Cobb with his wife, Marybeth, whom he met at UGA, and they have been married for over 30 years.
A resident of Cobb for over 30 years, Trina has handled cases in Cobb State Court as either a prosecutor or defense attorney for over twenty-four years. Trina earned her Juris Doctor in 1989 from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, where she graduated in the top 25% of her class, made Dean’s List numerous times, was inducted into the Moot Court Honor Society, and was elected as the Honor Court Prosecutor. She scored 95th percentile on the National Bar Exam following her graduation from law school. Trina is a member of the National College for DUI Defense, a member of the Cobb County Bar Association, has participated in the national DUI defense seminars at Harvard Law School, taught at ICLE DUI seminars, and has successfully argued before the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals.
Scott has served as President of the Criminal Defense section of the Cobb Bar for the last year and was a member of the Cobb Bar Trustees in that capacity. He is a former member of the Georgia Tort Lawyers Association and a current member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In 2019, he received the Judge G. Conley Ingram Award for Service to Cobb County. He also received a Victory Award from the Criminal Defense Section of the Cobb Bar last year. Scott has spent a great amount of time in the trenches working the cases that fall through the cracks in the system.

Mazi was born in Tehran, Iran and lived there until 1979 when his family decided to flee and escape the violent revolution. Mazi received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University and a Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta. He transitioned into serving as an Assistant Solicitor General and an Assistant District Attorney in Cobb County. In 2004, Mazi left prosecution and started The Mazloom Law Firm, L.L.C. and has focused his practice on criminal defense and personal injury. Since, 2008 he has served as an Associate Judge in the Municipal Court of Marietta as well as in the Roswell Municipal Court, and occasionally sitting as Pro Hac Vice, a fill-in judge, in Cobb County State Court for the seat he is seeking now. Mazi is married to Cassie Reece Mazloom who is a former Cobb County Police Officer and is the current Director of Cobb County Emergency Management. He chose to raise his family in Cobb, he chose to build his practice in Cobb, he chose to serve the non-profit organizations in Cobb, and he is proud to say, “Cobb is home”.
Diana grew up in Savannah, Georgia. She continued working hard through high school and college, where she earned both academic and athletic scholarships. After graduating from Berry College, Diana set her sights on law school and attended Atlanta's John Marshall Law School. Following law school, Diana lead the Domestic Violence Unit in Clayton County as its sole prosecutor. When an opportunity to move to Cobb County presented itself, Diana joined the Cobb County Solicitor General's Office in May 2010. She still serves there and has risen to Deputy Chief Assistant. As an Assistant Solicitor, Diana has had the privilege of practicing before nearly every State Court judge and has honed her skills as a litigator, especially when she tried nearly a dozen jury trials in a twelve month span. She lives in Marietta with her husband, Stirling, a Cobb native. Together they have three sons who attend Marietta City Schools, and a chocolate lab named Boss.
David grew up in Snellville, Georgia and graduated from Brookwood High School. David remained in Atlanta for college and law school, earning a Business Economics degree from Georgia State University and his Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. David’s law school faculty awarded him the Harold R. Banke Advocacy Award, for displaying the best potential in his entire graduating class to develop into an accomplished litigator. Within a few years of becoming a lawyer, David caught the attention of the entire Cobb County legal community when he went on an unprecedented winning streak of a dozen jury trial victories. David would go on to serve as a Senior Assistant District Attorney for Cobb County under two administrations. In 2013, David opened his own law practice, Willingham Law Firm, P.C., where he practices criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation. In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, being a “Dance Dad,” church, playing guitar in a rock band and playing golf.
Judge Carl Bowers was appointed to the Cobb State Court bench in October 2005. Judge Bowers has previously served as a full-time Magistrate Judge, as an Assistant Solicitor-General in Cobb State Court, and as a law clerk in Cobb Superior Court. Judge Bowers has also spent five years in the private practice of law. Judge Bowers attended the University of Georgia, obtaining two degrees, including his law degree in 1989. Judge Carl Bowers was appointed to the Cobb State Court bench in October 2005. Carl W. Bowers appointed Division I Post 7 judge for the Cobb County State Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the seat by Governor Sonny Perdue in August 2010. Judge Bowers has four sons.
I was born in Kinston, N.C., but grew up in Knoxville, Tenn., then moved to Atlanta in 1986. I earned my bachelor’s from Trinity University and my Juris Doctorate from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. After I passed the bar, I worked as an associate for a law firm that focused on personal injury and criminal defense, then I was hired as a prosecutor for the Cobb County Solicitor’s Office. Two years later, I was offered a position at the Cobb County District Attorney’s office as an Assistant District Attorney prosecuting Crimes Against Children. In 2000, I opened my own law firm. I am involved with many community organizations, like the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club and East Cobb Business Association, among others.
