10GHz

This is a band I have, so far, had little to do with. Some take it very seriously with high power, good receivers and big dishes. EME is certainly possible and with serious DX modes some quite remarkable terrestrial distances have been achieved. Some of this DX is scatter and some tropo. Often rain showers can be used to effect on this band.

Some access the band with low cost "repurposed" Doppler radar modules that may be bought at very low cost on the internet. The main mode is wideband FM. A popular module is the HB100. People have achieved ranges of 5km with just the module and well over 100km has been achieved with these in conjunction with a dish on ATV.

With the HB100 units, there is really no microwave engineering needed. A small retune is all that is required to get these into the band. If used with a dish, these have to be placed at the focal point so the dish is correctly illuminated. There must be WBFM transceivers based on these modules on the internet.
