Codar AT5

A rig that I coveted in my youth was the Codar AT5 transmitter. I operated this at the QTH of my mentor G4PJ in Salcombe, Devon.

I once owned the T28, which was the companion receiver. Actually it was rubbish. Mostly it was used as a tunable IF for Oscar 6 and 7 satellites.

The Codar AT5 was a 10-12W 160m and 80m AM/CW transmitter at a time when most mobile activity was on 160m AM. It was VFO controlled and worked well.

These days you can get a full all mode transceiver covering 160m to 70cm with all bands plus GPS, Bluetooth and WiF in much the same size. We have come a long way!
