Journey Overview
The Books & Beyond Reading Club (BBRC), a volunteer-led initiative, offers free English Reading Enrichment Programs to Hong Kong's local schools. It aims to deepen students' appreciation for English, bolster their emotional resilience, and enhance their relational skills.
As HKU PGDE students, we have collaborated closely with BBRC in Experiential Learning (EL) initiative, primarily providing English storytelling activities and assistance to various local schools. We conduct English storytelling sessions and extend our support to schools across Hong Kong.
Our main activities include Interactive Storytelling classes, Reading Marathon Events, and the Conversations That Matter series, plus online storytelling for students in Guizhou, China. In a month, we've partnered with 11 schools across Hong Kong, including Kowloon and New Territories areas like Tiu Keng Leng, Kwun Tong, and Tseung Kwan O, conducting 26 storytelling sessions for over 800 students, with some sessions attracting up to 200 participants.

Future-Ready Product
During our experiential learning at BBRC, we've realized the significant role of picture books in language teaching. Their colorful illustrations captivate children visually, while concise language expands vocabulary and expressive abilities. Inspired by this, we showcase our ideas on picture book teaching through our website. It includes: (1) classroom games for storytelling, (2) IT skills for interactive materials, and (3) our sample lesson plans for reference. These resources enhance interactive learning, technology usage, and teaching guidance.
