Read-cycling

Read-cycling in PPO Library

Founded in 2009, Read-cycling  is one of very few charities in Hong Kong dedicated to books and book lovers.  PPO Library is located at San Po Kong, which aims to love and share books with book lovers throughout the community. Used books were given a second life through  various activities with organisations, schools, corporations, and individuals. The Read-cycling Experience Learning Team was mainly focused on book selection plans with schools, book categorisation, and social media promotion. We also came out with creative ideas for the upcoming event in PPO Library at the end of  November.

A Treasury for Teachers

The Read-cycling team hopes to create a treasury for prospective teachers to prepare for future teaching resource. We learnt how to be a Caring Facilitator, Collaborator, Creative-thinker, Lifelong Learner during the process.

We held the Online Book Fairs for TCSL classmates, and had opportunities to present the Booklist design and Library floorplan design for PPO Library.  Meanwhile, PPO Library will  have our Primary Booklist Display Area in the long term.

The Book sharing session was a great experience to share happiness with students through read-cycling, and to enhance the interaction for prospective teachers, students, and parents.

PPO Library Online Book Fairs and collaboration with other TCSL EL projects

Online Book Fair

The online book fair is a creative way to promote PPO towards a wider community. The event lasted for 1 hour and books were sold at 30% of original price.  11 books were sold on the day and those were recommended to motivate students' interest and to encourage them to learn how the world works.  The sales revenue will help PPO provide more support to people in need. Thanks to all guests who came on 14 Oct to support the online book fair.

Online Live Broadcasting

The live broadcasting is another way to relate IB teaching to PPO books. We picked 12 books for primary age students, each grade receiving 2 based on students' Chinese background. 5 books were sold and it helped us to gain more experience about choosing books for IB teaching. We believe online sale is another way to promote PPO and help teachers in IB PYP framework.

Our Creative Product—Booklist

What is the creative product that links to our teaching career?

This book is a "gift" for prospective teachers.

Caring Facilitator: Teachers should take care of the learning efficiency of students of different levels. You can use this booklist as a reference to select and improve the student that suits your teaching, so that students will be interested in reading.

Collaborator: When interdisciplinary teaching with teachers of other subjects, you can also use the book list to sort out improvements.

Creative-thinker: According to this booklist, it shows some interesting teaching activities. The booklist provides some teaching references and fit the IB theme. Teachers can use it as a reference and improve it into a version suitable for their own teaching.

Lifelong Learner: The continuity of the booklist is also the purpose of our design of it. Hoping to achieve the effect of "There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes. ". Everyone can extend the unique version that suits them from the booklist.
