2019-20 Community Projects
Words from the Experiential Learning Coordinator
This year we successfully worked with four organisations for 6 community projects, including the groups working with children and elderly. We worked AKA to support children with ethnic minority background, children from low-income families, and children with special needs. Our students devoted all their time and heart to support their studies and build up a very warm rapport with them. Meanwhile, we worked with the elderly in the St Luke Community Centre and in the Yuk Ching food bank centre. These elderly appreciated so much about the support from HKU students. Lastly, we also worked with the Read-cycling organisation to promote reading and second-hand book recycling schemes in the community.
All these projects are meaningful and insightful which also provided our students with great life experiences and learning journey. We truly appreciate the support from our Community Partners and the supervisors who worked closely with our students. Thank you to all PGDE_TCSL students for all your great achievements done for the organisations and the wonderful educational products you created that bridge your EL learning experience with your future teaching career.

Words from the Community Partners Supervisors
HKU students were diligent, receptive and effective. We were very glad that all of them loved books and therefore could complete the tasks given in an efficient manner. These included writing book reviews, tidying up the bookshelves and categorising books. We also appreciated their initiative in coming up with publicity ideas for an event of our warehouse, aka PPO Library.
