Read-cycling 2019
Having the Experiential Learning in Read-cycling is a fruitful and rewarding experience. As we had to promote second-hand books to students, we did a lot of research on the topics and books that students are interested in. As we inquire into the reading habits of Hong Kong students, we ourselves grow to be a lifelong learner in exploring new knowledge with great eagerness. If we want our students to love learning, teachers should first set a role model. By building our eagerness to dig deep into new knowledge, we can bring positive influence on our students in inspiring them to inquire into the things around them.
We also made a Big Book to elaborate on how a book becomes a second-hand book and the importance of reading. We aim to cultivate students’ reading habits and make them a lifelong learner as well. The Big Book has both traditional and simplified Chinese versions, which can serve as a good teaching resource for IB PYP teachers.
