Food Bank
Ms Wang shared information about Yuk Ching Charity Trust. They have offered support to people in need through a wide range of services and projects in China and HK.
During our social service in Yuk Ching Charity Fund's office and food bank, we had the opportunity to deepen our understanding of the living status and basic needs of grass-root people, which encouraged us to be socially-engaged educators striving for equity and social justice.
Out of the sense of corporate social responsibility, Yuk Ching Charity conducted a reform in the operation of food bank, changing from the traditional way of handing out rice in which the elderly may wait in long queues in the streets to a more flexible and respectable method. This innovative practice inspires us to be an adaptive and critical thinker in education, reflecting on the theories and teaching practice while contributing towards productive changes in teaching.

Food & Resources Center
We helped in the Food Bank two days a week to support the volunteers to deliver the food to the low income families in the community.
Our supervisors
Our supervisors were very helpful who taught us how to run the Food Bank. They have worked here as volunteers for many years.

We also worked with a group of office staff in Yuk Ching office. We helped them to handle the project data and paper work.
The stories of volunteers
This magazine includes valuable stories shared by experienced charity organisers and volunteers. Those stories inspired the readers on the mental preparation before they enter the field of charity work. We want to engage the readers by inviting them to be the writer of this magazine, therefore, they are encouraged to leave their thinkings and reflections on the last page of the magazine.
The magazine we have produced will be very helpful for those who are interested in the preparation for participating in volunteer work. Besides, it serves as a reference for those IB school students who will be devoted to social service project.
