WELCOME to East Lothian Intergenerational Network
Ageism is not benign.
It has far reaching effects.
We can change this.
Ageism is not spoken about as much as many other forms of discrimination, yet it is likely to have already affected you - and it will again. Ageism doesn't actually care how old you are - you are 'fair game'. It impacts on your Rights, on opportunities in your community, your education settings, your careers and your autonomy for large chunks of your life.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recognise the negative impact that this discrimination has on our health and wellbeing also. It contributes to social isolation and loneliness. It can shorten life.
If the report is a little more than you have time to digest, this is for you.
