The Howff aka Roundhouse
Currently there is an open offer to enjoy this forward-thinking campus with very strong international links. We are encouraged to support the planned / ongoing development.
Many thanks to Patrick for sharing his slides from our ELIGN meeting in QMU.
Enjoy hearing directly from those involved in developing the opportunities noted below; building connections for those on campus and the wider community. #Exciting!
Ideal for Intergenerational Learning with focus on sustainability; it is exciting to imagine how the landscape will change over the coming years.
This area will soon look very different. It's one of the key development areas in the plan to make most of QMU landscape, with an invitation to spend time in it, meet others, learn and share knowledge, develop skills together - and connect with nature.
With a Discovery Trail there is a lot to enjoy. The Roundhouse, a learning structure nicknamed "The Howff" will be sited in this area. The entrance to the Howff will be where Patrick (on the right of the photo with cap on) is standing, and it will be surrounded by the "Wee Forest" - (currently saplings, planted to create a forest which will encircle the Howff).
The structure will be powered and will include access for those in wheelchairs / with mobility difficulties.
Nearby is the pond which can be walked around. A meadow grass area is to be planted on the other side, between Wee Forest and accommodation block. Also to be found on the grounds are the allotments and greenhouse. During the pandemic these were looked after by people from the local community who initially engaged in a little 'guerrilla gardening' but this was appreciated and has now been recognised as a perfect partnership between QMU and wider community.
There is a lot more to this campus than you might realise - and best seen and experienced first hand.

In Feb QMU hosted their first gathering for stakeholders, community interest and the university for several years - starting with a mini tour of the grounds (see above) and then a warm welcome and presentation in the campus sharing the innovations taking QMU through the pandemic, Brexit and into the future with you, me and all engaged locally and globally! The clear message, this is "OUR QMU".
