WELCOME to East Lothian Intergenerational Network
A seed of aspiration has been planted around preparing the ground for growing relationships between school pupils from Dunbar Grammar School and those being cared for in Belhaven Hospital....with garden and grounds as a focus for nurturing connections.
This would be a development from something which already exists - and incorporates shared interest across generations around sustainability and climate action / time in nature. This is a perfect example of something that already exists but can be extended into Intergenerational.
Good luck to all in Dunbar area - lets hope this happens.
The community garden provides a therapeutic space for patients and their careers with its open space and sensory garden. The community garden is run for the benefit of the community gardeners, volunteers, staff, patients and visitors. The volunteers grow food organically throughout the year in a polytunnel, raised beds, and in individual plots. It is a large site with an orchard, compost bays and meeting place. An outreach gardener uses the garden for prescribed sessions. Activities are planned within the garden for health, learning and relaxation.
