WELCOME to East Lothian Intergenerational Network
Musselburgh is forging ahead with development of a Meeting Centre, using community space through heartwarming partnership with St. Andrews Church.
Manager, Fiona Barrett was appointed late Autumn 2021 and is working alongside DFEL, Musselburgh Area Partnership and the existing Musselburgh Dementia Friendly group with support from Alan Forrester to innovate and establish The Meeting Centre.
Conversations are continuing to grow in Dunbar, which already has the incredible start through all the intergenerational and dementia friendly work at Dunbar Grammar School and in Bleachingfield Community Centre.
Meeting centres are established through following a set of core principles and established principles to create - which ensure that those using and participating in the centre are at the heart of all the decisions. The journey started in 2018 - you can read more through DFEL website but the key relationship to ELIGN is the knowledge that an intergenerational approach is essential - ensuring those engaging with any Meeting Centre are best supported through an inclusive and whole community approach as the aim is never to create more exclusion, barriers and group isolation.
Large and mixed outdoor percussion based instruments bringing people together was seen as a real positive action for Musselburgh Meeting Centre and others - exploring intergenerational connections.
