The Creative Arts & Exercise / Sports
Creative, arts-based activities are known to be important for all of us on every level. Actively engaging in all forms of the arts are linked strongly to our need to play - with us engaged both physically and mentally (cognitively), but with added impact of creativity and feelings sparked through the activities and our engagement on many levels. We learn about culture, share community links and customs, connect to past and future, learn new information and develop skills through the many connections afforded through a diverse range of activities. Sport and exercise also can have very positive impacts and be excellent activities to share across different generations.
Mixed teams of various generations participate, regardless age, fitness level and abilities. The event is about generations sharing an learning from each other. Lifetime experience and fresh ideas connecting. And it’s about enjoying sport at any age!
Playlist for Life was created to use with those living with dementia / memory loss. It is a musical approach to recognising key moments in our lives and what music marks these. It's a wonderful way to communicate and share stories / get to know each other through spending time recording, playing, singing and listening to songs and stories together.
Just like music, dance also marks generations, times and trends.
Enjoy discovering styles, memories and have fun together - dance is good for every age group and is an optimal activity for health, wellbeing, learning and connection.
Intergenerational Arts based programmes.
By developing these activities in an intergenerational and inclusive way we can extend the positive impacts, not only for individuals, but also for the group / setting / community.
