Pandemic ~ Seasonal Changes ~ Lockdowns
Winter Lockdown - how do the winter months impact on communities in Scotland?
Loneliness doesn't care what age you are - it hurts regardless and impacts on health.
Every year, over late autumn and winter particularly, many in our communities experience a 'winter lockdown' - with many feeling particularly isolated and alone behind closed curtains.
With 'an epidemic of loneliness' in the UK noted, what can make a difference?
CELEBRATING COMMUNITIES: Final Report
Prior to this project, DFEL received funding from Life Changes Trust to lead on valuable work, as all began adjusting to 'the new normals' post pandemic. The landscape was changed for so many, the experiences of lockdowns and their impact varied considerably, but all across East Lothian communities "stepped up" and worked alongside ELC / NHS or 3rd sector. People were cared for by neighbours and others in their communities - all ages and backgrounds - and this highlighted amazing stories and strength, understanding and important knowledge from and within our communities. Intergenerational inclusive approaches.
Loving you, loving me, loving us - Library Love gathering exploring what is on offer and developing intergenerationally.

Ringing in the new year and wishing "A Guid New Year to A'body"
A NEW YEAR is upon us! 2023 is welcomed with open arms - after all, how else can you have a hug?
The ELIGN network has made lovely connections, growing awareness and focus on intergenerational opportunities.
In December we shared some simple ideas to end 2022 – together, with intergenerational opportunities and relationships at the heart. If you follow the Season's Greetings blog below or click on The Twelve Days of Christmas - you can enjoy Intergenerational Inspiration as we travel through winter and develop a great start to 2023, following 'the season of goodwill'.
You are welcome (and encouraged) to share these suggestions and ideas too.
