Winter lockdown was the focus for the project - not the pandemic - but a second lockdown was imposed during the same period.
Three communities engaged with a Public Health Scotland, CHEX & Support in Mind Scotland* project, focusing on making a difference in our communities over winter period.
What did we learn about connection and community during pandemic lockdowns?
What does that tell us about those still experiencing loneliness, isolation, segregation, prejudice or anxiety?
Experiencing two complete lockdowns gave most people a new insight and changed focus from work, and generally very busy lives, to thinking about their community and what we see when we slow down and take actions in our communities.
#ItTakesAVillage culture was found to be essential.
*Support in Mind Scotland is now known as Change Mental Health
You're On Mute was a way to collate experiences, reflecting back what was known from the communities participating and those collaborating in finding ways to make a difference over "dark nights and short days" as well as reflecting on the mutual experiences of a pandemic and lockdowns across the country.
Loneliness doesn't care what age you are - it hurts regardless and impacts on health. Relentless stress can and does affect anyone - any age or background. Who is around to help and support matters for everyone.
With 'an epidemic of loneliness' in the UK noted, let's make a difference!
