3D Design and Animation Students will study methods and techniques involved with 3D design and animation as well as concept design. Topics covered include 3D modeling techniques, lighting, rendering, animation, the 3D printing process, and other industry skills. Techniques and applications taught are used in numerous professional careers including; all fields of engineering, the medical industry, forensics, graphic design & advertising, scientific research, military simulations, game design, and film production. This course is ideal for artists, and students pursuing careers in architecture, engineering, industrial design, game design, and entertainment industries. LAB FEE: $20 is required for design supplies and materials. *Meets MYP Design requirements

Student Assessment: Students are assessed based on Three main areas, foundation skills, developing ideas, & independent project & skills development.  This is more of holistic approach which is student-centered and promotes a growth mindset.

Student grade is based on three main areas:

Grading is competency based 1-6; which is more holistic, student-centered, and promotes a growth mindset.  Students are able to practice mastery of competencies and skills without the penalty of receiving a poor grade and creates an opportunity for students to learn from their mistakes.

Standards to Grade Conversion

6 = Industry Level Mastery 6/4 = A+ / 110

5 = Advanced Mastery 5/4 = A+ / 105

4 = Mastery 4/4 = A / 95

3 = Partial Mastery 3/4 = B / 85

2 = Developing 2/4 = C / 75

1 = Emerging 1/4 = D / 65

0 = Emerging 1/4 = F / 40

Creativity and Innovation: I believe that it correlates with the ability to ask good questions and the ability to problem solve. Employers will be looking to employees more and more for creative and innovative solutions to issues that exist.

Independent Project & Skill Development: This assesses the student's ability to independently learn new technical skills and their ability to manage an independent project.  My goal is to foster an environment that promotes intrinsic skill and project exploration.  Ultimately giving students an opportunity, the tools, and an environment, to explore their passions and/or future careers.

Developing Ideas (Ideation) is the creative process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas.Students will follow a design process of creating, developing and communicating abstract, concrete or visual ideas based on their interests  related to the course content.

Developing Foundational Skills emphasizes building foundational skills which are software & hardware specific, based on each course strand.  Each student will apply gained skills to mini projects, documenting creating the solutions.   They can be demonstrated through teacher guided assignments OR can be demonstrated through independent student projects.
