As humans we experience a vast range of emotions, many of which your child will be experiencing as they enter Kindergarten! Learning to identify emotions will help your child in many ways including helping to:
Communicate their feelings, thoughts, and behaviours to you, their friends, and teachers.
Understand and use the Zones of Regulation.
Understand how to manage their own feelings and emotions .
Be empathetic and make friends with others!
Help your child connect their feelings to their actions. Use examples of other people, such as when you see a young child crying in the park, ask your child what they may be feeling.
Help your child name their feelings by giving them a label.
When playing with stuffed animals or toys, use language that talks about feelings as it applies to the play!
