This website and accompanying Kindergarten Readiness booklet was developed by Queen's University Occupational Therapy students, Sarah Barton, Shoshana Stein, and Megan Widmer for incoming Kindergarten students in 2020. The team worked under the supervision of Registered Occupational Therapist, Lisa Delaney, Central Public School teacher, Kevin Wood, and Student Support Teacher, Kelly FitzGerald.
Occupational Therapy (OT) is a profession that aims to enable individuals to accomplish the many things they want to do, need to do, or are expected to do everyday! Occupational Therapists work in many different settings and with many different age groups, including babies, children and adolescents (also known as Paediatrics). When working in paediatrics, OT practice aims to help children develop the skills they need to grow into independent and confident adults. This includes helping children to participate in school and play, and develop important life skills that bring meaning and purpose to life through activity and play-based approaches.
