Program Overview

Welcome to Central Public School’s Get Ready for Kindergarten program! This website includes a checklist of milestones to help you identify skills that your child can practice at home to promote their success in Kindergarten.

Start the program by referring to the Milestone Checklist (below) to assess your child’s progress for each milestone as a skill they are “beginning” to do, “sometimes” do, or “consistently” do. This will guide you to choose which skills to focus on over the summer. We recommend focusing on the milestones where your child is in the “beginning” phase, and the activities your child shows interest in!

Keep in mind these skills are not a prerequisite for Kindergarten, and it is not expected that your child will have reached every milestone.

Following the completion of the checklist, you can refer to the four skill category buttons at the top of the page to navigate through a list of activities for each milestone.
