Stringing beads onto twine, string or a noodle requires children to use their pincer grasp (their thumb and index finger). This grasp is great for precision tasks and is a precursor to the many more complex tasks we begin to partake in as we grow! Consistent use of a pincer grasp may look like a child being able to pick up small items or beads for arts & crafts activities, or the ability to pick up a snack during snack time!
String large and colourful beads onto a variety of thread-like items. Start with more accessible items like pipe cleaners and spaghetti noodles, and then progress to harder ones like yarn, twine or string.
Try beads with large holes, or cut up straws
