While the rest of the daily routine is fairly structured, lunch and snack time are times where your child is given the opportunity to independently sit and socialize amongst their peers while they enjoy their food. Sitting and focusing while eating a snack allows for children to engage in mindful eating and might help prevent the negative consequences that can occur when eating with haste or distractedly!

What does it taste like? What does it look like? What does it smell like?
How does it make your body feel? How does it help your body?

Discuss the Zones of Regulation and how your child is feeling prior to snack time. What are some strategies that your child can identify to reach the “Green Zone”?
