Period 2 8:56 – 9:38 - 6th grade Spanish in the computer lab
Period 3 -10:12 – 10:54 7th grade Spanish will be in Mr Monihan’s room
Period 4 10:56 – 11:38 world cultures will be in the computer lab
6th grade Spanish, Period 2 8:56 – 9:38: Class E white days/ Class D blue days
Same lesson as yesterday for the other group…All their materials are found in their folders. Each day, please pass out the manila folders that are located in the cubbie in my office. They are labled blue and white days…Students have colored their folders so they should be able to find them easily if you bring them out into the classroom. Make sure they put all their materials back into their folders and put the folders back into the cubbie for the following day.
Activity I – students do not need their folders today, you will be in the computer lab. First start by brainstorming on the whiteboard (BRING A MARKER…Often there is no marker there) in the computer lab, aspects of culture such as language or education or geography/climate. Try to make logical groupings in the bubbles…such as geographical features/climate/ location all seem to go together well. (5-10 minutes..while their computers are warming up) Then have students choose 2 topics that they want to study. They can work with someone if they like and maybe do 3 areas.
Activity II –Have them go online to find as much info as they can about their subjects areas for MEXICO (tomorrow will the Argentina group…please check with Sarah that it is a white day which is what the school calendar says it is) . They should write 2-4 of their own sentences about each subject. Please remind them that copying and pasting text from the internet is not OK. They should look for visuals only AFTER they have their text. The visuals should support their text…(they always love to look for the visuals first) IF they know how to do google presentations they should put their info into that format and share with me. If not, just have them put it into a doc and share.
7th Grade Spanish, Period 3 -10:12 – 10:54: Mr Monihan’s room
Still working on the three items…translating my dialog, taping themselves saying my dialog and writing their own dialog. (If there are students that want to wrap up their letters that is OK too…I am hoping those are not the letters I collected yesterday, however…the folks that did their letters on the computer will want to go back into their letters and make corrections based on the comments and resave…and then print.
Please pull up the plan for May 16th on the website.
On the dialog...they translate up to "de primer plato" or start at "¿Qué recomienda usted" and finish it. same goes for taping.
Enrichment world cultures Period 4 10:56 – 11:38 in the computer lab which is on the first floor inside the library.
Most students have found most of their information about their state/region and shared with me…(A few don’t seem to have shared) but only 2 of them have compared the culture of their region (or state) in the US to Vermont. You will be in the computer lab for both days, and a third if you need to be.
Today is visual and RANDOM fun facts about their places…if they have found and inserted visuals that support their text, they can now look for wild fun facts about these places. Have them google famous people who live in their region/state or wild animals or any crazy random fact that adds to the colorful nature of their region/state. An example is what does the “moose crossing” signs that are all over I 89 say about Vermont? Etc. What does it mean for Quebec that they are the province of Canada with the most water…etc…But really tell them to have fun and google trivia fro their areas,
