COURSE DESCRIPTION- Levels 2 World Languages
During year level 2 world language program will enable the student to acquire basic to intermediate skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language. We will use a variety of learning strategies specific for languages, which are both digital and traditional. Students will study the language system as well as the cultures of French and Spanish-speaking countries.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The student will develop spoken language skills in order to engage in face-to-face conversations, express likes and dislikes, make requests, discuss their lives in the present, past and future and obtain information. There will be regular writing assignments in the target language. The student will understand and use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling in the written and spoken target language. In addition, students will be able to read authentic materials and listen and comprehend in level appropriate situations. Emphasis will be placed on expanding a student’s vocabulary in the target language. Students will gain awareness and respect of diversity in customs, culture, and language in the Spanish and French-speaking world.
HOMEWORK
Homework, when given, usually represents memorization for a presentation, studying for a quiz, or work left unfinished from class. Most activities have adequate class time allotted for task completion if students use their time well.
